Volunteers Required!
The 2018 tactical plan is ambitious and we need your help to accomplish our goals.
We are currently looking for members in good standing to actively participate in the following areas:
Member Document Working Group
As an additional member benefit we are looking to establish a members only document library. The library, accessible through the members' area of the website, may include but is not limited to:
- Cryo history and overview documents for student and early career members
- Videos and/or step by step instructions for various protocols and techniques
- Scientific blog - an insight into the greatest work that never gets published! Negative results, great images, interesting observations, and more
- Annual Meeting Scientific Debrief - a summary report covering salient scientific points and follow up discussions
Members of this working group have a fantastic opportunity to flex both their creative and scientific muscles to design and create an exciting resource for members. It is anticipated that this project will run for 12 months.
Membership Committee
We want to give you more member benefits!
Committee members will assess current member benefits in relation to other biological societies and explore, propose, and assess viability of introducing additional membership benefits. Committee members will also assess current membership categories and pricing, particularly in relation to institutional and corporate membership, and also act a touch point for welcoming new members the Society in their critical first 12 month member cycle.
Publications Committee
Do you love writing about all things cryo? The publications committee needs members who can contribute a small number of news articles and blog posts for inclusion on the website and monthly newsletter, Newsnotes.
Committee members will contribute a minimum of two articles per year on topics of their choice. Example articles include cryo group profiles, event reports, cryo news, opinion pieces etc.
Awards Committee
It's time to establish new awards! We want to recognize mid-career scientists who are not currently represented by any Society for Cryobiology awards. We are also exploring the idea of offering training grants and Travel Fellowships to fund low and middle income country (LMIC) researchers to attend our annual meeting.
Committee members will assist in research, drafting award rules and regulations, award criteria and 'marking schemes'.
